About African Studies

A program that focuses on the history, society, politics, culture, and economics of one or more of the peoples of the African Continent, usually with an emphasis on Africa south of the Sahara, and including the African diasporas overseas.

While African Studies has degrees up to the Post masters certificate, the majority of students study towards a Bachelors degree. Students major in African Studies all around the US, though the major at the Doctors degree research scholarship level has the most graduates in Rhode Island.
