Finding a mentor can take a significant amount of time. After all, you want to make sure that you find the right person to mentor and guide you during your college years. There are several ways to find a mentor but two of the easiest are through internships and student organizations.
Using Internships To Find a Mentor
In looking for a mentor, you ideally want to find someone who is experienced in the same field that you are interested in pursuing. Where better to find such a person than at an internship?
Some internships place you with a mentor. If you are not directly paired with somebody, take a little time to observe potential mentors. Pick someone who you trust and get along well with. Most importantly this should be a person whose work ethic you admire. It should also be someone you aspire to be like when you get out of college.
Using Student Organizations To Find A Mentor
The senior students and alumni who are members of the student organization would have been in your shoes not too long ago. A few years ago, many of them would have been facing the same struggles that you are looking for now. This puts them in a unique position to give you the exact help you need. That makes them the perfect mentor for you.
