You most likely buy just about anything you need on the internet. Even if you’re only a part-time shopper, you probably head to Amazon at least once a month. As a student, you may not know there are benefits for having a Prime Student account. You’ll have to have an .edu email account to qualify, but here are just some of the perks you can take advantage of with Amazon Prime:
You Get a Six Month Free Trial
While most Prime sign ups get a free trial, theirs only lasts for a month. Prime Students are entitled to six months free. During the trial, you’ll receive a number Prime perks including free two day shipping on included items.
It’s important to note though that you won’t receive every single Prime benefit while you’re in the free trial. You won’t have access to the movies or music during this period. However, if you decide to sign up after the six months, these perks will become available to you.
You Get a Discounted Amazon Prime Account
A normal Prime account currently costs $119 a year, or $12.99 a month. For students, you receive a discounted rate of $59 per year or $6.49 a month. Once you graduate or leave school and lose your .edu email account, your Prime account will renew at the normal rate.
These prices do tend to change every year, so make sure to do your research to find the current rate.
You’ll Have Access to Exclusive Deals
Just like other Prime members, Prime Students have access to exclusive Prime only deals. This can be a perfect way to prepare for a new semester or just get the supplies you need for your dorm room, an art class, or items for your free time. You’ll also be able to participate in Prime Day.
During the holidays, Amazon also offers deals on many items, some that become available first to Prime members or are exclusive only to those with Prime. As a Prime Student, you’ll qualify to participate.
You Can Take Advantage of the Other Perks
Though Amazon Prime is best known for the two day free shipping, there are plenty of other benefits that come along with having an account. Members will also have access to videos, Amazon channels, music, Amazon Music, Twitch Prime, book borrowing, early access to books, Audible discounts, a free trial to the Washington Post, photo storage, the ability to sign up to Prime Pantry, and more.
