All colleges encourage students to talk to them and ask them questions at any time before, during, or after the application process and this is something you should take advantage of.
Clarification Questions
Here’s the first and foremost reason why you should talk to a college before applying. You can get clarifications on anything you are not clear about! Yes, most colleges have pertinent information on their website. Providing detailed information about every available course is impossible. If there’s a course that piques your interest, call and ask about it!
Admission Information
Do you need more information about the admission requirements? What about curriculum details about one or more programs that interest you? If you cannot find the details on the website, call the college and ask.
Financial Aid Office
You can (and probably should) talk to a college’s financial aid office before you apply. They can give you information on how their award packages work, and maybe give you an idea of what sort of aid you might receive. It’s always beneficial to ask questions about how you can pay for college.
You must keep in mind that putting together an application is not just time-consuming, it is also costly. It would be a waste of time and money to work on an application for a particular college only to find that it is not the right fit for you.
