Delaware College Grants
1. Bradford Barnes Memorial Scholarship
The B. Bradford Barnes Memorial Scholarship is available to high school seniors who call Delaware home. Covering full tuition, fees, and associated costs, those who win can renew their award for up to three years as long as they continue to meet requirements.
In order to be eligible, students must
- Have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.0. This must be maintained in order to be eligible for renewal.
- A combined SAT score of at least 1290 or ACT equivalent
- Be attending school full time in Delaware
- Complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before the award’s deadline
2. Charles L. Hebner Memorial Scholarship
For students that will be majoring in humanities or social sciences and attending University of Delaware or Delaware State University, there is the Charles L. Hebner Memorial Scholarship. This award also covers all fees and tuition associated with college.
Students need to:
- Complete their FAFSA
- Have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.0
- A combined SAT score of at least 1000 or ACT equivalent
- Be majoring in one of the eligible majors. Preference is given to Political Science.
- Be attending school full time
3. Herman M. Holloway, Sr. Memorial Scholarship
Also covering tuition, fees, room and board, and books and renewable for up to 3 years, students who plan on attending Delaware State University can apply for the Herman M. Holloway, Sr. Memorial Scholarship.
Requirements include:
- Completion of FAFSA
- Have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.0
- A combined SAT score of at least 1000 or ACT equivalent
- Be attending school full time
4. Career Based Scholarship
The Career Based Scholarship is for students who are entering high-need fields in the state. Employment trends and needs are reviewed and updated every 5 years. The award is for $5,000, and although it is not renewable, the student can reapply as long as their intended career is on the eligible fields list.
For the 2022 – 2023 school year, eligible fields include:
- Accountants and Auditors
- Financial Analysts
- Financial Managers
- Operations Managers
- Human Resources Specialists
- Management Analysts
- Market Research Analysts and Marketing Specialists
- Registered Nurses
- Software Developers, Applications
In order to qualify, the student must
- Be enrolled full time in a Delaware school, public or private
- Be going after their bachelor’s
- Complete their FAFSA
- Meet academic standards set forth by the school
5. Educator Support Scholarship
Similar to the Career Based Scholarship, this award program is for future teachers who meet the current education demands of Delaware. It also awards up to $5,000 and can be re-applied to each year. Eligibility requirements are the same as the Career Based Scholarship.
The teacher shortage areas that qualify for the Educator Support Scholarship in 2022 – 2023 include:
- Bilingual
- English Language Learner
- World Languages
- Math
- Science
- Special Education (All Areas)
- Business Education
- Agriscience Education
- Family Consumer Science
- School Nurse
- Library Media Specialist
- English
- Immersion (Elementary/World language)
- Technology Education
- Speech Language Pathologists
- School Psychologists
- School Social Workers
- School Counselors
