Interesting Scholarships for Art Majors

Scholarships aren’t just about top grades or financial need. There are actually quite a few “interesting” ones out there, and you may just qualify for a few! Here are three examples of interesting scholarships that can help you showcase your artistic abilities.

Doodle for Google

Have a knack for design? Then you may just want to enter the “Doodle for Google” scholarship award! This year’s theme is “I care for myself by….” You can use art to showcase what brings you joy, calm, energy, or another emotion.

Any materials you want are allowed as long as you submit it through the entry form. You should also include an artist’s statement to talk about why you chose this route and how it represents how you care for yourself.

There are several awards available – and it’s not just a scholarship you win! In addition to Google swag, winners can receive:

  • Your artwork will be displayed as the Google Doodle for 24 hours
  • $30,000 college scholarship
  • $50,000 technology package for the student’s school or nonprofit organization

Create-A-Greeting Card Scholarship

Think you could create a better greeting card than the ones you see on the shelves? You may just want to enter in the Create-A-Greeting Card scholarship from The Gallery Collection. Winners will receive $10,000 plus an additional $1,000 for their school. Even if you don’t win and the company decides to use your design, you will be compensated as well!

Students interested in applying should submit an original design online in the form of a greeting card. Students need to be 14 years or older and submissions need to be received by March 2nd, 2022. Participants, their friends, family, and others online can vote on their favorites, and the final winners will be chosen by a panel of judges.

Stuck at Prom Scholarship

You may have seen this scholarship around on social media! The Stuck at Prom Scholarship is designed for students who can make their outfit out of Duck® brand crafting tape! Details for the 2022 award aren’t out yet, but students can win $10,000 under the grand prize and $500 as the runner up.

In 2021, the contest started on March 31st and students could submit their entries until June 9th. Students who participate need to design and wear either a tuxedo or dress.  Duck® brand crafting tape needs to be a part of the design, but other materials are allowed to be used.
