American Advertising Federation-New Mexico (AAF-NM) Scholarship Fund

Amount: $1,400

Deadline: June 4, 2020

The American Advertising Federation-New Mexico (AAF-NM) Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to applicants who wish to enter the field of advertising.

This scholarship is open only for students who are residents of New Mexico and those enrolled full-time at a public or non-profit New Mexico college or university. Applicants must be majoring in either Journalism (with an emphasis on advertising), Business (with an emphasis on advertising), Photography, Illustration, Advertising and Marketing, Graphic Design, Fine Art, or associated fields. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is mandatory to qualify for this scholarship.

To apply for this opportunity, you will need to submit an essay detailing your career goals, your strategy to ensure good standing in your profession, and the reason for choosing your intended field. Participating in relevant activities or work experience will give your application a boost. Your application must be accompanied by a CV, official transcripts and a reference letter from a current teacher or counselor.

Austin Alliance for Women in Media Scholarship

Amount: $5,000

Deadline: TBD for 2020-2021

The Austin Alliance for Women in Media foundation strives to increase the representation of women in fields of media. Thus, the scholarships it offers are aimed exclusively at women. This specific scholarship entails a sizeable award of $5,000 and is to be used for the graduate or undergraduate tuition of the applicant and will be administered by the recipient’s Financial Aid office.

To be eligible, the student has to be studying media, full-time (a minimum of 12 hours per semester), at a San Marcos or Austin area University, and must have completed 75+ college hours by December of that year. The applicant must be majoring in advertising, marketing, public relations, film, television, radio or communications and broadcasting with a minimum GPA of 3.25

Recipients of this award must commit to attending the AWM Gala to accept the award.

The Chairman’s College Scholarship

Amount: $2,500

Deadline: March 15, 2020

The PPEF (Promotional Products Education Foundation), a charitable, not-for-profit organization, awards the Chairman’s College Scholarship. PPEF provides scholarships to students who have parent(s) employed in the promotional products industry or to those currently working in the industry themselves.

The scholarship is only open to students entering their junior year of college and pursuing a full-time undergraduate course. The student must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 to be eligible for this scholarship.

The scholarship is split over two years — $2,500 each for the junior and senior year. Renewal is conditional and based on the student maintaining the required GPA. It is also based on whether the student or parent remains employed within the promotional products industry.

The scholarship chooses a winner based on GPA, resume, essay, letter of recommendation and optional financial need.

Marketing Edge Scholarships

Amount: Varies

Deadline: TBD for 2020 (opens Summer 2020)

Marketing Edge awards various scholarships to students so they can focus on their academics. Having awarded scholarships for over 25 years now, Marketing Edge has given almost $650,000 in award money. Today, students have the chance to win scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $7,000 to help pay for their tuition and fees.

To qualify, students must currently be enrolled in college, have participated in a Marketing Edge program, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and related major (i.e. advertising, marketing, etc.).

The Helen Brett Scholarship

Amount: $5,000

Deadline: June 1, 2020

The Helen Brett Scholarship supports individuals enrolled in four-year degree programs focusing on the study of event and exhibition management. It aims to promote the events and exhibitions industry. The scholarship encourages promising students to join the field and establish themselves in it. The IAEE (International Association of Exhibitions and Events) manages the Helen Brett scholarship, to honor one of the first female trade show organizers in the industry.

Applicants must be full-time students and currently enrolled at an accredited university or college. Additionally, applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students must send their resume, two letters of recommendation, and a 500 to 1,000-word essay about their goals and career path, along with their application.

The scholarship provides an amount of up to $5,000 towards tuition fees. Potential candidates may get a chance to intern at the Expo! Expo! IAEE’s Annual Meeting and Exhibition.

The Interpublic Group Scholarship and Internship

Amount: Up to $5,000

Deadline: TBD for 2021-2022

The New York Women in Communications Foundation awards the Interpublic Group Scholarship and Internship.

The foundation awards this annual scholarship based on academic performance, involvement in the communications field, and financial need after an in-person interview. Two ethnically diverse college juniors interested in pursuing a career in public relations or advertising receive up to $5,000 in award money.

Applicants must be permanent residents or citizens of the United States and live in NY, NJ, CT or PA. Students must have at least an overall 3.2 GPA. Candidates must fulfill a paid internship in New York City as well during the summer prior to the academic year in which the scholarship will be awarded.
