For a large number of families across America, the cost of college is prohibitive. And that’s just for one child. For parents with twins, paying for two children to attend college at the same time can be a challenge. Scholarships for twins can help ease the burden of funding two college tuitions simultaneously.
Fortunately, there are plenty of unique scholarships out there that celebrate all sorts of demographics. Among those are scholarships for twins, triplets, and quadruplets. Some colleges offer even more niche opportunities such as scholarships for fraternal twins and scholarships for identical twins.
Many of the scholarships for twins are offered by the individual colleges to students applying to their college. However, there are other opportunities that do not have such restrictions.
These are some of the scholarships for twins that you can apply for if you’re eligible:
Twins Days Andrew R. Miller Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $1,500
Deadline: Applications may be submitted starting January 1, 2022.
What better way to celebrate twins than a Twin Scholarship awarded at Twins Days in Twinsburg, Ohio? This annual festival draws hundreds of twins and multiples siblings, and each year a pair of twins are selected and given a wonderful scholarship award.
To be eligible, twins or multiples must have registered and attended at least 3 of the previous 5 Twin Days festivals. They must also be registered for the current year’s festival. In addition, all applicants must also submit a 300-word essay about the positive impact of Twins Days and provide 2 letters of recommendation. Only residents of the City of Twinsburg and Twinsburg Township, Ohio are eligible to apply for this scholarship for twins.
NEO A&M Twin/Triplet Dorm Waiver
Amount: The value of one double room
Deadline: Apply and enroll by July.
Room & board is part of the cost of attendance, but twins or triplets at NEO A&M can get it waived. The students must attend NEO together, though they don’t actually have to room with one another. Each year, about five sets of twins or triplets take advantage of this waiver.
To be eligible, twins/triplets must attend the school together, have a 2.0 minimum GPA, and have no disciplinary record. Only one application is needed per family. Additionally, if both/all three siblings stay enrolled full time, they can potentially renew the waiver the following year.
Lake Erie College Twins Scholarship
Amount: Full tuition (split between the twins)
Deadline: Varies
College is expensive for just one student, but when you have two it can get overwhelming. Luckily Lake Erie College comes to the rescue with this generous scholarship. It pays an annual full-tuition, one between the two students. So essentially it’s a two for the price of one award.
Students must attend LEC together and must be enrolled full-time in their chosen undergrad program. This scholarship is awarded in place of any merit award. If a twin qualifies for a higher merit award, they will get that instead.
Julia Catherine Niswender Endowed TWIN Scholarship
Amount: $500
Deadline: April 1
Being a twin is life-changing in a way that only children or siblings a few years apart can’t understand. Applicants at Eastern Michigan University must write a 1-2 page essay about what it means to be a twin or multiple. The essay must be accompanied by a photo of themselves along with their sibling or siblings.
In addition, applicants for this scholarship are required to submit a resume highlighting academic history, employment experience, volunteer activities and special recognition for exceptional accomplishments. Applicants should have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Sterling College Twin Award
Amount: 50% tuition for each student
Deadline: Automatically awarded if both twins attend
Sterling College offers quite a discount for any twins or multiples that attend their school. This is an automatic scholarship, and students aren’t exempt from qualifying for other scholarships either (bonus!).
Both twins must attend Sterling, or two of three triplets must attend.
Wilson College Twins and Triplets Scholarship
Amount: 45% of tuition for each student
