School’s out and you should absolutely be soaking up the sun and enjoying summer days off. But if you have some extra time, now is the perfect time to apply for scholarships! We’ve rounded up seven scholarships with July deadlines to help you get started.
7 Scholarships with July Submission Deadlines
1. SHARON STEPHENS BREHM UNDERGRADUATE PSYCHOLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS
Award Amount: $5,000
Deadline: July 10
This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate psychology majors who demonstrate financial need. The American Psychological Foundation (APF), encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds with respect to age, race, color, religion, creed, nationality, ability, sexual orientation, gender, and geography.
To apply, submit your transcript, a letter of recommendation from a psychology faculty member (requested through the application portal), and a personal statement that describes your past, current, and future involvement in the science and application of psychology on campus and elsewhere, academic achievements and leadership activities.
2. FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT SCHOLARSHIP
Award Amount: $1,500
Deadline: July 12
College and graduate students are eligible to apply for the Annual Financial Empowerment Scholarship by creating a 30 to 60-second video discussing the important role that financial empowerment plays in life. Eligible applicants must complete the application, and submit their creative video, current transcript, and proof of enrollment or acceptance at an accredited institution.
3. GENETEX SCHOLARSHIP
Award Amount: $2,000
Deadline: July 12
This scholarship is open to students who are pursuing a STEM undergraduate or graduate degree. It is awarded to one student twice a year. To apply, you will need to submit a most recent transcript to show that you are in good academic standing, as well as a personal statement of 500 words or less on what made you want to pursue a STEM major.
4. SCORENAVIGATOR FINANCIAL LITERACY SCHOLARSHIP
Award Amount: $1,000
Deadline: July 13
This scholarship is for high school juniors and seniors from low-income backgrounds who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The goal is to empower students with the financial knowledge and skills needed to make informed decisions and build a secure future. To apply, write about your personal financial experiences and how you plan to use your education to better your future.
5. PHYLISS J. MCCARTHY SCHOLARSHIP FOR EXCELLENCE IN WRITING
Award Amount: $1,000
Deadline: July 23
Are you a high school senior or junior with a love for creative writing? If so, you can win $1,000 for having the best response to one of the scholarship’s prompts. In 2000 words or fewer, respond to one of the following prompts:
- NARRATIVE: Do you remember the first time, or a specific time, you made someone laugh? OR do you remember a time someone made you laugh? Tell the story of what happened and its impact on you.
- META: Write a letter to your future self and detail a day in your life currently. Touch on what is most meaningful to you and what makes you feel the strongest emotions.
- WACKY: Complete the 11 Mad-Lib-style fill-in-the-blanks below, then craft a piece of poetry or prose that includes both a secret message* as well as each of your chosen words at least once (in no particular order): something inherited, an item seen in nature, random word you like the sound of, type of weather, specific texture, color, type of body of water, plant or animal, scent or flavor, emotion, something you love.
6. LEARNING DISABILITY RESOURCES FOUNDATION AWARDS PROGRAM
Award Amount: Laptop or Tablet
Deadline: July 30
The Learning Disability Resources Foundation is an organization that strives to create, discover, and stimulate innovative services to meet the unmet needs of individuals with learning disabilities. If you have Dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning disabilities and demonstrate financial need, then you are eligible to apply. All applicants will be personally interviewed and must have proof of college registration or college acceptance letter.
7. “PASS THE TORCH” TEACHER SCHOLARSHIPS
Award Amount: $5,000
Deadline: July 31
A total of $10,000 will be awarded to one recipient planning a career in elementary education and one planning a career in secondary education. Funds are awarded directly to the recipients to help pay for living expenses. All finalists receive a $100 Amazon gift card and one year of free access to any of the Core Plus Online Prep Programs to help them pass the credentialing exams required by their state. To apply, create a video no longer than six minutes, sharing the story of a teacher who inspired you and what lessons you want to pass on to your future students.
