Adopted High School
The Adopted High School is a merit scholarship for U.S. High School graduates who attend a FAMU Adopted High School. FAMU has memorandum of agreements with a select group of high schools. The valedictorian or salutatorian of their graduating high school class is eligible to receive an award to cover the cost of tuition minus the sum of Bright Futures, the National Merit award or other scholarships and awards. The scholarship will cover fees associated with tuition, minus the postal fee and the $35 orientation fee. The scholarship also provides base-rates for double-room occupancy and campus meal plan, minus fines. Freshman year only (cumulative grade point average reviewed at the end of the spring semester) Scholarship Eligibility Requirements: -Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident -Be nominated by the high school principal -Be the valedictorian or salutatorian -Graduated from a FAMU Adopted High School -Have a FAMU recalculated grade point average of 4.00 or better (pursuant to F.S. 6.002 and 1003.437) -Have a SAT score of at least 1290 -Have an ACT score of 29 -Be college-ready (no remediation or remedial courses) Recipients are eligible to receive an award for a maximum of eight (8) consecutive semesters.
