Located at 4040 Chestnut St, students are welcome to visit the Division of Public Safety (DPS), including the University of Pennsylvania Police Department (UPPD). DPS has over 178 personnel, including 118 police officers, the largest private department in the state. The Division focuses on the safety and security of the campus and community.

DPS offers fire and emergency services, self-defense courses, counseling, violence prevention, walking escorts, lockout and jump-start assistance, house security, and more.
